
Impact is Key! The golf ball doesn't know how you've swung it.
The 3 keys to look for and practice are:
1. Ground Strike
With all shots hit from the ground you must interact with the turf but...after you've hit the ball.
Fats are when you hit the ground before the ball and thins are when you don't hit the ground at all.
The more you control the low point the more consistent your shots will be.
2. Face Contact
You want to hit the ball on the centre of the clubface - to get maximum efficiency and control of distance face contact is really important. Work on this using athletes foot spray or alignment sticks.
3. Direction
Poor ground strike or face impact can twist the clubface so don't worry about consistent direction control until the first 2 are correct. If they are then we want to work on bringing the clubface back square to the intended target line.
